This rail
bridge is located at the southern-most end of a proposed 14 mile rail-trail
corridor between the communities of Standard and Westerly. Utilizing former rail
lines and bridges which once transported coal out of the area, cyclists, hikers,
walkers, runners, and physically challenged individuals may experience the many
natural, historic and cultural assets of this area.
Situated in
a wide spot along Paint Creek at Westerly, this area is ideal to be developed,
at a minimum, for a trailhead and comfort facility. Developed to its maximum
potential it could be made into a camping area.
