This picture is taken along a particularly scenic and heavily fished section of Paint Creek in Fayette County.  Skitter Creek is a tributary of Paint Creek and, in the past, has been heavily impacted by acid mine drainage. It has been an ongoing project of West Virginia’s Division of Natural Resources to clean up this stream, improve water quality and the increase the viability of the aquatic habitat.

Presently the health of Paint Creek and the economic success of the fishing activity along Paint Creek is directly effected by the relative health of this tributary.
